CASE STUDY:
BEARING WITNESS
The American Friends of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem (AFEDJ) is a non-profit organization that supports fundraising and leads pilgrimages to the Holy Land to reconnect Americans to this important region. In 2018 they recognized a need to create a virtual options for the many Americans who are so far removed from this area and unable to travel to the Middle East.
We collaborated with a production company on the ground and began to plan production in Israel, the West Bank and Gaza. The project was delayed by Covid and then again by unrest in the West Bank. In January 2022 we made the decision to move forward with the project by directing the local film crews remotely. We directed the crew over Zoom in the middle of the night guiding them on collection of B-roll and conducting interviews with the help of a live feed and zoom connection to the participants.
The result is a powerful series of videos designed to bring Americans closer to the Holy Land and a deeper understanding of the challenges today while linking to the original gospels of the Bible.
